The Challenge

The refurbishment required a wide range of existing building services to be reviewed, removed, modified and reconfigured to support the new layout and future use of the college.

New mechanical, electrical and public health systems needed to be integrated within the existing building fabric, while maintaining compatibility with established building management and life-safety infrastructure.

The project also needed to support a more flexible education environment, with comfortable teaching areas and an improved entrance experience forming part of the wider refurbishment vision.

The Solution

S-Worx delivered a coordinated MEP package across the building, beginning with the controlled isolation and removal of redundant services before new infrastructure was installed.

Electrical works included new containment, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, access control and CCTV systems.

Mechanical and public health services were reconfigured and upgraded to suit the revised building layout, incorporating domestic water, drainage, heating, cooling, gas and ventilation systems together with associated pipework, ductwork, equipment and controls.

Rooftop photovoltaic panels were also installed and connected into the building’s existing renewable energy infrastructure.

The Delivery

Close coordination between the building services, architectural elements and existing infrastructure was central to delivery.

New systems were integrated with the existing building management and life-safety systems, while mechanical and electrical services were carefully coordinated around the refurbished teaching, circulation and communal areas.

The programme brought together multiple disciplines within a single refurbishment strategy, allowing services to be adapted around the changing requirements of the building rather than treated as separate installations.

The Result

The completed refurbishment provides ADA College with a more flexible and comfortable learning environment supported by upgraded building services throughout.

Spacious teaching areas, improved environmental control and a redesigned entrance lobby have created a building better suited to the needs of students and staff, while the upgraded MEP infrastructure supports the ongoing operation and future use of the college.
